University of St ThomasMassimo Faggioli worked at "the Bologna School"(officially the "John XXIIIFoundation for Religous Studies"in Bologna) between 1996 and 2008 and recieved his Ph.D. from the University of Turin in 2002. His dissertation discussed the history of the appointment of bishops after the Council of Trent. After studying theologyat the Karl-Eberhards-Universitat Tubingen (1999-2000), he has been invited to work as a post-doctoral researcher in the Faculte de Theologie et Sciences Religieuses at the Universite Laval, Quebec (Spring 2002). In 2008, he moved to the United States, as a Visiting Fellow at Boston College between 2008 and 2009. Dr. Faggioli is now Assistant Professor in the Theology Department of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul (Minnesota). He frequently gives public lectures on the Church and on Vatican II, and he is co-chair of the new study group "Vatican II Studies"for the Ämerican Academyof Religion". He is member of the research network "The Lived History of Vatican IÏ"of the University of Notre Dame, and recently, he has been awarded the first "Peter R. DÁgostino Research Travel Grant", offerred by the Italian Studies Cener and the Cushwa Center of the University of Notre Dame. His most recent publications include: Il Vescovo a il Concilio. Modello episcopale e Aggiornamento al Vaticano II, 2005, tr.: (The History of the Document on the Bishops of vatican II) - the first book on Vatican II that made use of the archival sources in the Vatican Secret Archives; Tener da conto. Agendine di Bulgaria 1925-1934, 2008, - the edition of the diaries of Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli (later John XXIII) during his diplomatic mission in Bulgaria; Breve Storia dei Movimenti Cattolici, 2008 (Spanish translation 2011, English translation forthcoming by Palgrave and Macmillan) and recently Vatican II: The Battle for Menaing, 2012 (Italian translation forthcoming by EDB Bologna). In Septemver 2012 Liturgical Press will publish his new book: True Reform. Liturgy and Ecclesiology in Sacrosabctum Concilium. He is now working at a book on the history of Church governemnt after Vatican II. Dr. Faggioli is married with a child.
